Call for Special Sessions, Tutorials, and Demos 10th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Networks-on-Chip August 31 - September 2, 2016 Nara, Japan Researchers are invited to submit proposals for Special Sessions, Tutorials, and Demos for the NOCS 2016 conference, to be held Auguest 31st ? September 2nd in Nara, Japan. See below for each specific call. Proposals must be sent via e-mail (either pdf or ascii text) to Prof. Michihiro Koibuchi (koibuchi"at"nii.ac.jp) and Prof. Sudeep Pasricha (sudeep"at"colostate.edu) for Special Sessions, to Prof. Paul Bogdan (pdogdan"at"usc.edu) for Tutorials, and to Dr. Yuichiro Ajima (aji"at"jp.fujitsu.com) for Demos. All proposals will be evaluated in terms of their quality and technical/scientific contribution. Sessions strengthening and/or extending the conference program in new directions will be prioritized. The Special Sessions, Tutorial, and Demo Chairs reserve the right to refuse proposals in the event of logistic constraints. Important Dates * Tutorial/Demo/Special Session proposals due: February 19, 2016. * Acceptance notification: April 8, 2016 * Presentation Material Deadline: May 18, 2016 Special Sessions The aim of the special sessions is to provide a complementary flavor to the regular sessions and can take the form of (1) Panels discussing visionary and/or controversial issues, (2) Hot-Topic Sessions, dealing with the introduction and discussion of new R&D problems, and (3) Tutorial Sessions, addressing trends in the technical domains that are of interest to the conference participants. Topics that introduce new directions and paradigms relevant to the NOCS community are highly encouraged. Special Session proposals should consist of an extended summary of up to 1500 words as a PDF or text file, describing the session content and format. Proposals should include: * Title of the special session * Rationale of the need for the special session at NOCS. The rationale should stress the novelty of the topic and /or its multidisciplinary flavor, and must explain how it is different from the subjects covered by the regular sessions * Short biography of the organizers * List of three (3) contributed presentations (including titles, presenters, contact information of the corresponding presenter, and an abstract of each contribution). * For panel or tutorial session proposals, list three to five panelists/speakers and their area of expertise. Note that the organizer/submitter of the special session may also be a speaker for the session. In case of acceptance, contributors of accepted Special Sessions will be asked to submit final texts or statements of panelists, as appropriate, for publication in the Proceedings as final, camera-ready manuscripts by May 18, 2016. Panel sessions are entitled to one page per panelist in the Proceedings; Hot-Topic Sessions are allocated a maximum of six (6) pages per speaker, whereas Tutorials are allocated one single paper for the entire session which should not exceed ten (10) pages. For these final, camera-ready manuscripts, the only accepted file format is PDF. All papers should be formatted as follows: A4 or letter pages, double column, single spaced, Times or equivalent font of minimum 10pt. Use of colors may enhance your figures and is encouraged. For the accepted special sessions, it is the responsibility of the Special Session organizer(s) to ensure that the final manuscript submission deadline is met and all the camera-ready manuscripts from their respective Special Sessions are technically sound and meet the editorial standards of the NOCS Proceedings. The Special Session Chair may decline the publication of the final manuscripts in the NOCS Proceedings if the above responsibility is not fulfilled. Tutorials The purpose of tutorials is to educate attendees about specific topics or to provide the background necessary to understand technical advances in relevant areas. The tutorial should be attractive to a wide audience with interests in NoC research. Possible topics of interest include, but are not limited to, a wide variety of NoC related areas from multicore architecture and programming, to circuit-level design and emerging architectures based on 3D integration, optical interconnects and on-chip RF/wireless communications, role of emerging memories, industrial case studies, design methodologies, and performance/energy/reliability analysis. There will be two tutorial sessions, each of half day duration. The tutorial proposal (length limit: 2 pages in 10- point font) should include: * Title of the tutorial * Contact information for the presenter(s) (name, email address, affiliation) * Keywords * Short description of the target audience * A detailed outline of the tutorial * A short biography of the presenter(s) If the tutorial has been offered previously at a conference, the proposers need to provide the conference information (location, date) and number of attendees. The evaluation of the proposal will include its general interest for NOCS attendees, the quality of the proposal, and the expertise of the presenters. Further, the selected tutorials are expected to adhere to the following guidelines: * Speakers are required to provide tutorial material to the Chair one month prior to the conference. * The NOCS conference will reproduce the tutorial material for the attendees. * The NOCS conference committee reserves the right to cancel any tutorial if too few attendees are registered for a given tutorial. Demos The purpose of the demo session is to exhibit the latest results related to NoC research and developments. A complete conference session will be devoted to the demonstrations. The conference chairs encourage CAD tool, circuit and integrated system demonstrations, and FPGA prototyping of their latest developments in the domains of NoC architectures and design methodology. The evaluation of the demo proposal will consider its general interest for NOCS attendees, the quality and significance of the demonstration. A demonstration table, a poster board, and electrical plug will be available for each selected demo. A Best Demonstration Award will be conferred at the end of the session. The demo proposal should include: * Title, abstract (50 words) and description of the demonstration (limit: 1 page in 10 point format) * Contact information for the presenter(s) (name, email address, affiliation) * Any special demo requirements (Electrical appliance, scope, ...)
